Fat Dissolve: Miracle or Myth?

Hi everyone! Welcome to week three of my blog. I've decided that, in honour of my newest and most exciting treatment yet, this post is going to give you all the facts on fat dissolving! I'm super excited to finally offer this treatment as it has some incredible and long lasting results!

It sounds too good to be true- a cheaper and non surgical alternative to liposuction which gets rid of stubborn fat for good? Surely not!

Also known as mesotherapy, lipolysis and lipo dissolve, fat dissolving injections are the latest trend in the beauty industry and has everyone excited. Finally we can get rid of that extra padding that won’t budge no matter how healthily we eat and how much we exercise! However, like with any new trend, it’s important to get all of the facts before rushing in, which is what todays article is all about.

How Does it Work?

The concept is very simple. There are many different brands, but the product itself is a form of synthetic deoxycholic acid, a salt found in human bile which aids digestion. The serum will penetrate into the lowest layer of the skin and break down the wall of the fat cell, causing its lipid content to be emptied. Your body will then carry away the released fat to be metabolised. In other words, you pee the fat away!

Is it Safe?

The treatment is totally safe and non invasive. There has never been a recorded allergic reaction to the treatment and side effects are minimal. These can include swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness and sometimes a warm or burning sensation. All of these should be gone within a matter of minutes or days.

How Soon Do You See Results?

You do not see immediate results, so don’t go into your treatment expecting to lose 2 stone in 1 session! It will normally take a couple of weeks before you begin to see any changes, which is why before and after pictures are essential. Measurements should also be taken at the beginning of each session.

How Long Do Results Last?

Once the fat cells are empty- thats it, the fat is gone. However, unlike liposuction, fat dissolving does not completely remove the fat cells, so it is possible for them to fill up again. In other words, maintenance is key! During and after your treatments, you should be following a healthy diet and exercise regime to keep the same results.

For each area treated, you may need between 3 to 8 sessions, which will normally be scheduled around 10 days apart. Of course, this completely depends on your concerns and expectations- for instance a double chin will require less treatments than the abdomen area.

The goal of fat dissolving injections is to reduce fatty areas and smooth the skin- meaning these injections are great for areas of cellulite too! However, this method is not suitable if you have large areas of fat or are looking for large surface area contouring. Areas that can be treated include hips, abdomen, bingo wings, double chin and love handles.

So now you can see why I am so excited to offer this treatment! Especially after all of this quarantine/lockdown business. As most of you know, the grand opening of my salon, Hill Head Beauty and Aesthetics, will be on 4th July (unless the UK government has other ideas) but I am absolutely taking bookings for this date and onwards! For more information or to make your appointment, contact me here.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you next week!
